This painting was created as a 3-piece (Triptych) mixed media painting. There are bamboo branches embedded into the painting that stick out several inches from the sides and surface. These provide continuity to each panel and also give the feeling that the forest is growing outside the canvas! I also handcrafted a hawk from real feathers that is removable. This allows for reposition on different branches throughout the painting!
The background of the painting was heavily influenced from forests of the Midwest USA - Michigan specifically :) The foreground frozen lake and snow covered bamboo were influenced from "Blue Pond" in Hokkaido, Japan. This is essentially a fusion of two very different geographical locations making for a very unique piece!
